NORTH WALES CRUSADERS secured a ninth place finish following our 36-13 victory over Coventry Bears, meaning that we will now compete in the Kingstone Press League One Shield.
What is the League One Shield?
Once every team in League One has faced each other once, the league splits into two. The top eight sides compete in the Super 8’s for promotion from the division, whilst the bottom eight sides compete for the League One Shield.
In both competitions points are carried over from the first half of the season, meaning that the Crusaders’ ninth place finish will see them enter the Shield top of the table.
What happens next?
Each team in the shield will now face each other once giving every team seven more fixtures. Teams towards the top of the table will have four home games and three away, whilst sides towards the bottom will have three home games and four away.
After the conclusion of these fixtures, the team who finish top of the table will host the team who finish in second place in the League One Shield final.
Who will we face at home?
Due to our higher finish, we will be awarded four home games, these will be against Coventry Bears, Oxford RLFC, London Skolars and Hunslet RLFC.
Meaning that we will face South Wales Ironmen, Hemel Stags and All Golds away.
When is our next fixture?
Whilst we now know who will will face at home and away, the dates, times and order of these games are still to be confirmed.
The fixtures will be released on the club’s social media channels on Wednesday at 9.00am.
